Registration
If you are interested in competing in the Jack & Jill competition, please fill out the form below.
Space is limited: we will only be accepting 10-15 competitors per division.
Competitors must have a Full Pass for the Nova Dance Fest to be eligible.
Competition Format
• Jack & Jill format – partners rotate each round
• Judged individually, not as a couple
• Music will include a random mix of modern, sensual, and traditional bachata
How to Compete
• Qualification rounds will take place in different cities
• Qualifiers are free to enter
• Winners from each qualifier will advance to the Nova Dance Fest Finals
• Finalists will compete at Nova Dance Fest during the festival weekend
• Finalists will need a Nova Dance Fest Full Pass or Sunday Day Pass
• A $35 competition entry fee applies for dancers competing in the finals
Competition Prizes
$1,500 Cash Prizes
• $750 – Bachata Jack & Jill Winner
• $750 – Salsa Jack & Jill Winner
Plus Full Passes to:
• 2026 SF SBK Festival
• 2026 NYC SBK Festival
• 2027 San Diego Big Fest
• 2027 Nova Dance Fest
Festival passes generously provided by partner events.
Judging Criteria
Competitors will be scored individually based on:
• Technique
• Timing
• Partner connection
• Musicality
• Difficulty / intricacy
• Creativity
• Floor presence and energy
Judging will be based on cumulative scores.
Rules
• Any gender may compete as Leader or Follower
• Choose one role only – no switching after registration
• Partners are randomly assigned each round
• Open level – amateurs and professionals welcome
• Festival headlining artists are not eligible to compete
• No transfers allowed
• Any dance shoes allowed
